General Description:
New Day News is a Christian based information network hosted by a diverse group of volunteer directors and coordinators who carry out day-today operations of the network.
The Board of Directors are:
President: "David C" | |
Vice President/Treasurer: "Joseph"
Board Member: "George" |
The Board of Directors pay the expenses of maintaining the website, and make day to day operational decisions with the assistance of the Coordinators.
New Day News is available for access to the general public via the Internet by the web page located at http://www.newdaynews.com.
New Day News provides electronic forums available to the general public for the purpose of posting opinions and engaging in written conversation.
The general focus of the network is geared toward (but not limited to) persons who have had some relationship to an organization known as "The Family" (formerly known as The Family of Love, and The Children of God). This may include former members, current members and family or friends.
It is not the policy of New Day News to act in an editorial capacity in regard to information supplied by the public. As a true network, New Day News acts as a delivery agent for information. It should be thought of as similar in nature to a postal service or telephone company. New Day News is not responsible for determining the truth or accuracy of information supplied by the general public and carried along the network.
According to US Federal Law, Under 17 U.S.C. sec. 230(c)(1): "No provider or user of an interactive computer service shall be treated as the publisher or speaker of any information provided by another information content provider." This provision has been uniformly interpreted by the Courts to provide complete protection against defamation or libel claims made against an ISP, message board or chat room where the statements are made by third parties.
Privacy:
It is understood that some participants wish to remain anonymous, and that although privacy can not guaranteed due to the open nature of the Internet, it is our policy to respect the privacy of participants.
|
Use of the Network does not require registration.
|
Legal (real) names are permitted but not required.
|
Official New Day News Representatives agree to be reasonably diligent in the protection of the privacy of participants. They will avoid exposing legal names and other identifying information of participants to the general public. This includes the maintenance of private email confidentiality.
|
In the interest of maintaining privacy any posting of private email communications on NDN public boards will be deleted unless both sender AND recipient agree to the posting. |
John Doe Anonymity and CyberSLAPP Lawsuits:
In the event that the New Day News network is served with a court order (subpoena) to reveal information about a participant, it is the policy of the network to attempt to inform the participant prior to furnishing information. Due to the anonymous nature of the network, it may be impossible to contact a participant privately. We will at the very least place a message on the message forum last used by the subject of the subpoena. We will do this in order to give the participant an opportunity to seek legal advice if they would like to attempt to have the subpoena quashed. Please be aware that a typical deadline for furnishing information is seven days.
For more information on this topic, please visit the John Doe Anonymity FAQ, presented by chillingeffects.org.
Content:
Content provided on the New Day News network is mostly contributed by the general public in the form of messages posted on the various forums. It is not the policy of New Day News to change or edit content provided on the forums. Each Coordinator at his or her own discretion may elect to completely delete a message if he or she believes the message is not in keeping with the content or topic of the forum in question.
Disruptive Behavior:
Because the network is open to the general public, from time to time there may be disruptive individuals using the network. At the sole discretion of The Network Host or Forum Coordinator, disruptive individuals may have their ability to post messages on a Forum suspended for a definite or indefinite period. During a suspension the Forum Coordinator may engage in any means available to prevent the suspended party from posting material on the network. This may include, but is not limited to, complaint reports to the service provider of the suspended party.
Disruptive is defined as "To interrupt or impede the progress, movement, or procedure of". Individuals who engage in name calling and personal attacks against New Day News Coordinators or participants may be suspended for disruptive behavior.
Accusations posted of alleged illegal activities using a person's name without proof of criminal charges having been previously filed with the courts will be considered disruptive behavior. The poster may be subject to a suspension from the network. The only exception would be for the alleged victims themselves.
Message Deletions:
In order to promote a free and open exchange, messages will be deleted by New Day News only under the following circumstances:
|
In order to comply with space limitations. In this event, we will delete the oldest messages first.
|
If in the opinion of the Forum Coordinator, or the Board of Directors, a message promotes or encourages violent or illegal behavior, or may violate intellectual property (copyright) laws.
|

The Board of Directors reserve the right to change these policies without notice at its sole discretion.
