I met Bill Hicks on a number of occasions. He and my cousin Pam were in a relationship. She went on the road with him for years, and when he would be in L.A. they would stop by and visit.

He was a very quiet, polite and unassuming guy. Very into his recovery from drug and alcohol abuse to the point where he became really upset one time when he found out something he drank had a trace of alcohol in it.

He invited Jane and myself ot the Tropicana Hotel in Las Vegas to see him perform and put us up in a free room.

I was really surprised when he died of cancer of the pancreas at a young age. My cousin died a few years after he did from another type of cancer.

Bill's act was very angry, but he didn't come off that way in person. You would have never guessed he was a performer to meet him in person.
