We really love going to this place every year. To get the big cabin we have to put a deposit down a year and a half in advance. So, next January 1st (2009), we will reserve it for June in 2010. There is a whole dialing derby that goes on first thing in the morning every new years day. The owners just keep picking up the phone, and if you get to them first for the dates you want, the cabin is yours. For the last several years, we've gotten it, but if we mess up and call too late, we can end up "on the creek". Those cabins are also nice enough, but they don't have a view of the lake, and aren't as large so we can't invite as many people to go.

I've started going up to the general area when I was probably 9 years old. We have moved around a bit as the years have gone by. We used to go in May, to an area at about 8,000 ft of elevation. Then business changed, and the kids got bigger and it was harder to take them out of school for a week, so we started going to this place, which is at 9800 ft in late June. At that elevation, it is still spring like with temperatures topping out at about 72 degrees (where the lower place can be 100 degrees that time of year).

This year the fishing was so good that I just had to quit doing it the last two days. We had something like 60 fish sitting in the refrigerator, some of which, I'm still attempting to give away!
