Going back on the road this week

Jane, the Reds and I are going on a long road trip starting this Friday. I'll be travelling with laptop and digital camera, so I'll probably be posting some reports here.

The plan is to leave Friday from our home near Los Angeles, and drive north up highway 395 to Bridgeport, California the first day. Bridgeport is in the High Sierras, and is near where we just went on a trip a few weeks ago. We will be staying in a historic hotel that was once a cathouse in the old gold mining town of Bodie.

The next day we will head north again, and end up in a town called Burney, California. On the way there we will visit the Lassen National Volcanic Park.

The next day we will go north again, then turn East to end up in Hines, Oregon. From there we continue East to Twin Falls, Idaho.

Then, we go into Wyoming and end up at Yellowstone National Park, where we will spend five nights at a place called "Hibernation Station" in a log cabin. Rustic as that may sound, I understand it has satellite TV, and direct dial phones.

After Yellowstone, we turn back South, and head to Salt Lake City, Utah. Then St. George, Utah where we plan to tour Zion and Bryce National Parks.

From St. George, we head to Las Vegas for one night. We will be staying at the Luxor Hotel, which is the big black Pyramid. Our son Christian will fly into Las Vegas and meet us there. I have tickets to take the whole family to see "The Blue Man Group". Erin and I saw the show a few months ago, and really liked it. So, we wanted to take the rest of the circus to see it.

From Las Vegas, we head back into Los Angeles. The trip will be right around 2500 miles.
