We visited the Smithsonian Institute for Flight. They had an I-Max theater and a lot about the space shuttle. The pictures below are some of the first airplanes, including “ Spirit of St Louis” The most celebrated airplane designed by Ryan, the single engine NYP (better known as the Spirit of St Louis) was the plane in which Charles Linbergh achieved the first solo nonstop crossing of the Atlantic when he flew from New York to Paris in 1927. How would you like to take this across the Atlantic? The last picture is of some jet engines, which are really not that old. I remember when I was in my teens flying on a commercial airliner that was a prop. Now I don’t think there are any prop airliners for passenger service, if there are they are very few.
