Exactly. They sell them here at Home Depot fully assembled. I did see another one at BBQ's Galore in Pasadena that was pretty much identical for a lot more money.
I think David C has one of those more custom Texas types. Same basic design, but I seem to remember it being much heavier. In Texas they have guys who make a living just building smokers. It's practically a religion with some of those guys.
That story about turning the refrigerator into a smoker was hysterical. When you think about it in theory with the racks and all, I can see the logic.
The funny thing is here in L.A. I have a hard time finding anyone who has any idea what I'm talking about. But, everyone I've given any of the smoked stuff to has been crazy for it.
