If you have Windows XP Service Pack 2 installed on your PC, it already has the software in it to connect to your camera's USB port. All you practically have to do is plug it in to your USB port. If you don't really need or want the software supplied with your camera, you don't need to install it. However, you may need it to resize or modify your photo before you upload it.

It should automatically recognize the new drive. And then open My computer and you should see the new drive in there are with an icon of a camera next to it. Then you just double click it just as you would any other folder and you should see the photos in the memory of your camera.

You can treat them just as you would any other files in your computer -- copy, delete, move, etc. You should even be able to uplead them directly to NDN right from that folder -- your camera.

But I would suggest that you shrink them down a little first, if necessary, since sometimes they can be huge depending on how you have your camera set up.
