Yes, it's true! If your video card does not have an external input then you are sunk. Even IF it DOES have an digital external input you have to have the software program that will record it. Recording video uses large chunks of space so it has to be compressed into the right format.
My advice is to go to the store you bought it from and bug them, maybe they have good news.
