PD, for the majority jobs nowadays you really don’t need a resume. Now to find a career job or a specific job requiring years or some experience, yes a resume would be good. I wouldn’t try to use any Family experience on a resume, unless it would be directly related to the job he is applying for.

As far as what employers look for I would say varies with each one. But they all look for dependable, qualified people. Dependable people nowadays are as rare as rain in Nevada, but refreshing when one comes along. I know I have been an employer. Also as far as trying to get around certification or degrees, I wouldn’t. Just say you don’t have one, if you do not. I am including a sample resume it is below.
