I've gotten a virus into my system. I got it awhile ago, and I researched about it, it's not a highly dangerous one nor can it be translated to other people through email, it came in with some program I must have downloaded and not scanned before opening. Long story, I don't normally do such a thing.

The virus apparently attaches itself to programs, and it makes it appear as if your HD has less space than it should, but so far I've had no problem with it changing my space situation.

I'd really like to get rid of it, but the virus removal software (at present the new Avast mentioned below) asks me if I want to delete the file, and since they are all in my system section, I'm afraid to delete anything in case it's something crucial to the running of the computer.

Anyone a little more learned about virus removal have an opinion?
