In Response To: analog cassette to digital .mp3 (porceleindoll)

I have over 300 casettes and I have already converted them to digital on my computer as well as burned them to cd.

What you need is a sound card that has an "IN" port for a 1/8 inch stereo plug, like the kind on your headphones. You should also have some sort of recording and converting software. I use Nero which you can download online for about $60 or puchase on cd for around $90. There are also some USB devices which come with software specifically for recording from stereo (casette or vinyl) and you would spend around $50.

Being in Japan I would think it would be easy finding what you need. To get good results you will have to play around with it in order to get the best sound, eliminating hiss, and setting the best recording level, but it is well worth the effort.

I have some one of a kind vinyl recordings of classical music and quite a few on casette as well. Now they go with me on my MP3 player while I work.

Good luck!
