It's really fun though.

If I were you, I'd strart with asp/vbscript. It's much easier to learn for a beginner, but you have to run it from a Windows server.

You can connect to mySQL from asp, it will run on a windows machine. You can also use an access database. Access might be easier to learn, but I think that mySQL is a better database. But from a programming standpoint they're about the same.

But if you want to go with a linux or Unix environment -- like this site, you will have to learn something like php which may be more difficult for you to learn than asp.

There is a lot of free hosting out there if you want to just play around with something small just to learn.

But for larger sites Windows hosting is more expensive than Linux hosting.
