Both of those stories come from something called "The Aquarian Gospel", written by Levi H. Dowling in the late 1800's, who claimed to have transcribed it from something called the "Akashic Records" ("said to be a collection of mystical knowledge that is stored in the aether; i.e. on a non-physical plane of existence." - Wikipedia). "The Aquarian Gospel" purports, by means of "special revelation", to fill in the "missing years" between Jesus' trip to the Temple at age 12 and the beginning of His ministry, eighteen or so years later.
