I'm not directing this at you personally George, just expressing my own thoughs on this matter while I'm still legally allowed to.

Prior to his move to satellite this month, Stern never used foul language as defined by the "seven dirty words" on the air.

Some of his fines were for saying the word "Penis" on the air, which I hear on some prime time television shows these days.

His content was often sexual in nature, but no more so than content featured on other radio stations, or even television programs like the Oprah Winfrey Show. Or even some so called news programs who parade out strippers, and former sex cult victims on what just happens to be sweeps week.

We live in a day and age out double standards. We say that the US is a free country that supports free speech, freedom of expression and the free exchange of ideas. But, when someone actually has the guts to talk the way most of the rest of us do, it's considered an outrage.

The right of Stern to engage in free speech is directly connected to our right to express ourselves freely right here on NDN.

Now that they have run Stern off the free airwaves, I hope the Internet and NDN isn't next. After all, we DO have some of the seven words in our message bases, present content of a sexual nature, and talk about women being put in degrading situations. Not to mention the many references to Jews, which some consider racist anti-Semitism. Although we do NOT discuss these things in a joking environment, we do it in a public medium where children are free to come in and read it all.
