Have you ever been allowed to actually listen to him?
I am aware that he is banned in Canada. My understanding is that Canadians who want to hear Stern have to buy a satellite receiver in the US and bring it back across the border.
Don't get me wrong, I'm a bigger fan of free speech than I am of Howard Stern. A lot of times when I listen to him, I end up switching it off, but I do appreciate the freedom and opportunity I have to do that.
It's also not my intention to start a heated argument in the "Just for Fun" forum. I'm sure Oscar will let me know if this is out of line. But, people are passionate about what they find entertaining. Of course, the fact that Sirius paid Stern so many millions is an indication that a lot of people find Stern entertaining. Not to mention all those Canadians sneaking over here buying up all the receivers to the point where poor freedom loving Americans can't even find one.
Jane bought me one over a year ago, way before Stern hit the channels. It is a great thing to have on long trips. I'm about to drive up to San Francisco tomorrow on business. I can listen to CNN, Fox News, Weather, Traffic, and even Stern without losing the signal for the entire way up.
