Don't get suckered into all of the negative hype about this movie. It's an excellent movie. The characters, (all of them, not just the two guys) are well rounded and believable. I didn't even see the two main characters as "gay". I saw them as two men who fell in love. The story was very well played out. The scenery was incredible, just breathtaking.
I did pay the money to see this movie and consider it well spent.
