I watched the first two episodes, and got totally turned off by the language. Believe me, I've worked with Teamsters on back docks all of my adult life, so I've heard it all before. But, Deadwood just seemed so excessive I thought it got in the way.

Jane didn't like it either.

But, I do this thing where I fall asleep early a lot, and wake up at around 2-3am, and turn on the TV. I started watching Deadwood more and more in the middle of the night like that, until I was hooked. Now Jane will watch it too. Like you said, you get numb to it.

Second season was more of the same as far as that goes, but I do think it got even better. I missed Wild Bill, but the other characters started to develop. I think that the Doctor character is really good.
