I often listen to the Democracy Now podcast, very interesting and enlightening. The last one I listened to was about the human abuse issues in Uzbekistan and how the US has continued relations with the country (or had) due to the large reserve of natural gas in the country, but how the country's human rights abuse record is in many ways worse than Hussein's in Iraq. I didn't catch it all, but it talked about the connection of Enron with Uzbekistan.
Sorry, hope this doesn't develop into something political. But democracy now gives a very different take on the mainstream media.
I do watch a lot of Japanese news and talk shows. The talk shows are really different from the US ones, not so full of sarcasm and stuff, a lot more enjoyable. I can hardly sit through a single American talk show. I tried Jay Leno the other day, didn't make it. Too much sarcasm and put downs and jokes for me. Maybe Japanese shows are the same, and I just can't understand it all.
