Yes, Joseph I agree with you too, some people are just getting on the show to have their 5 or 15 minutes minutes of fame and sometime it works pretty well for them. I was sick to my stomach when I was younger when I had to go to auditions, and if someone was saying or had said that I was not talented, I would have been either furious or heart broken depending on the moment. I can just imagine when you are being told in fromt of millions that you are no good though and really you just had a "" bad day"". Depending,on your strenght of character and sometime it is not evident,if you are only 16... it can ruin your life for a long time or perhaps forever. I remember a couple of girls in my time that were very talented, but because of a bad review or a stay on a specific show, they had to quit show business.
I know for myself that I may had some talent but I did not have a hard enough shell to take the rejection, and you are right, show business, especially these days is definitely not for these people,"talent or not", that is why it is called "show" "business".
But, unfortunately,I don't find it funny when people laugh at people, but on the other hand,I really, really don't see how you can think you are talented when you are not, ha! ha!
