In Response To: Greatest Heros and Villains in film (Oscar)

Being true to my hit-or-miss philosophy on viewing t.v., lately, I recently saw Shane.
Another oldie that I'd never seen from beginning to end, yet it has been a part of my movie memory probably by osmosis of pop culture. You know, it's one of those classics like Casablanca that finds its way into our mental lexicon.

Since Shane (1953) is considered a benchmark of Western movies that embodies nearly every theme seen in Westerns since, I feel that some of its characters should be included on the list.

HEROES

Shane

VILLAINS

Ryker (cattleman)
Wilson (gunslinger)

CHARACTER THAT TURNS FROM HIS EVIL WAYS
(new category)

1.Chris Calloway

Quotes from Shane:

Shane: A gun is a tool, Marian; no better or no worse than any other tool: an axe, a shovel or anything. A gun is as good or as bad as the man using it. Remember that.

Shane: You speakin' to me?

Joey: Shane! Come back!
