I've been a huge Johnny Cash fan all my life. I couldn't picture it either. But, they did do a good job. One has to suspend disbelief, of course.

I was listening to a playback of Phoenix singing as Cash the other day, and it sounded like they slowed his voice down a little to give it more deep tones. It comes off sounding a bit unnatural. Once you get over all that, it is a good movie. Apparently, Cash wanted Phoenix to play him after seeing him in Gladiator.

This film really deals with the young, brash, drug addicted Johnny Cash, and he persuit of June Carter in the early days. It ends when he is doing his first concert at Folsum Prison in the early 60's.
