I didn't get to work on that film, but I worked all around it at the time. I was working on a commercial for Firestone around that time. The girl who was doing my hair pulled out a tube of KY Jelly. I looked at her kind of surprised. She explained that she had just finished doing hair for the movie Grease, and that she found out that the Sha-Na-Nah used KY in their hair, because it looked nice and wet, but could be washed out with water, unlike things like Brill Cream.
After that I always carried KY in my makeup case when I was doing characters with slick hair, and it always created interesting conversation in the dressing room.
