and this is really a chick thing, Jason Castro is not that bad. Don't sense that
he has as much experience performing and singing as David A. When Jason
performed "Hallelujah," that was his best performance so far. Given more experience
and maturity, I think that he could be very good in a limited genre. And he's a
chick magnet.

I'm watching the eliminations right now and unfortunately there is one contestant
that SHOULD NOT be there. Oh, WHEW! She's safe.

Okay, the other two are right on!!! And the one going home is -----------.

> Jason was painful, Brooke acted as if she were drunk, Ramiele

> Chikezie went back to the well from last week but it came off as
> contrived and the rest, except for Carly, David Cook, and David

> My choice for the exit tonight is Michael Johns, Jason Castro or
> Ramiele Malubay. We'll see...

The Best

>

  • David Archuleta: Pure, strong voice, appealing
    > boyishness, but I don't think he has the presentation to win it
    > all. Should be in the top 4.
    >
  • David Cook: He reminds me a little of Daughtry if
    > Daughtry were allowed to play an instrument. Another great
    > voice, handles himself well on stage, obviously has had a lot of
    > stage experience. I think he is in the top 4 and also a great
    > chance to win it all if he can show some versatility.
    >
  • Carly Smithson: Definitely the best of the gals, and
    > quite possibly the winner of the whole thing. Another great and
    > versatile voice and, as far as talent goes probably better than
    > Archuleta whose boyish act is wearing thin with me. She's a real
    > grownup!

    >

    The second tier

    > Any one of these could be in the top 4 if they catch fire.
    > Again, in no special order.

    > Michael Johns: So far a case of disappointed
    > expectations. He's got a lot going for him, theoretically,
    > another real grownup. a MAN, not a boy, good looking, another
    > great voice but he's still wandering in the wilderness looking
    > for a "hook". If he takes an early exit I wouldn't be
    > surprised.
    > Syesha Mercado: Everything I said about Michael Johns
    > applies to her, except she has little "presence". Last
    > night she looked 'FABULOUS" and she sang rather well, but
    > her performances have the aire of someone performing for a
    > hidden camera in an empty room.
    > Brooke White: Everyone wants to like her. My boss's wife
    > says that she wants Brooke for a best friend and I can see why.
    > She has a self effacing personality, always smiles, even in the
    > middle of disaster, and she has a grace about her. But her
    > talent is limited to one particular style. Some promoter
    > may be able to package her well enough to give her a
    > chance at being a pro, but I think her vocal range is limited,
    > too limited to reach the top 4. But, then again, I
    > thought Taylor Hicks (even the name sounds like a curse) would
    > take an early exit, so what do I know?
    > Chikezie: ANOTHER person you want to like. He seems so
    > real onstage but his singing has been "pitchy", and
    > even though his vocal range is acceptably wide he doesn't seem
    > to be too aware of his own abilities to take advantage of it.
    >

    Goodbye!

    > Jo, you won't like this one, but Amanda Obermeyer: The
    > female version of "Johnny One Note". One style, no
    > versatility and a voice (if she ever displayed it) that is just
    > pedestrian, at best. What she has going for her is her delivery.
    > I don't know how she came about with that vocal style (it's just
    > not "natural") but it has served her well up till now.
    > She will not win, cannot win. Maybe she'll make it to the
    > final 6.
    > Jason Castro: Another "Johnny One Note", but at
    > the opposite end of the scale from Amanda. Mellow enough to put
    > you to sleep. He'd be perfect in the local coffeehouse, singing
    > while people engage in quiet conversation, read or work on their
    > laptops. Self effacing like Brooke, he looks as if he's just
    > excited to be there. After last night's performance, though, he
    > might be going home. Dreadful!!
    > Ramiele Malubay: She may get some kind of contract with a
    > Philipino record company, but not in the States. A fabulous, big
    > voice but she is clueless on how to use it. I'm sure she was a
    > great hit singing at weddings and First Communions, but she's
    > not a pro, not very self aware.
    > And finally,Kristy Lee Cook: She's gotten this far on her
    > looks and attitude, not for her "good" voice. To ME
    > she's just marking time. Beauty Pageant looks and talent,
    > nothing more.
