I read the book right before seeing the movie, so I really didn't enjoy the movie very much, though I liked the actors. Probably if I'd seen the movie first it would've been different. But readign the book and then comparing it to the movie, well, the movie fell short of expectations. It was sort of chopped up and jumped from scene to scene without enough explanation of why this scene had developed this way or that way. It's hard to do, to bring the thoughts and emotions going on inside the head of a person onto the screen. Few movies have done it well.
