I always prefer the book to the movie. If you have a chance, you should read Queen of the Damned, it really is an amazing book. It was so fascinating. I lost interest in the Vampire series after about the 3rd book, but the first 2 were really interesting.
Servant of the Bones is actually my favorite one so far of hers. I haven't read the Ramses one, nor the Witches, but Servant of the Bones is not so much horror as much as, I don't know, supernatural? You may enjoy it.
