I saw the first color one while I was in France in the '70s, at about 7 or 8 years old. It not only freaked me out and gave me nightmares for a few years, it creeped me out too, the whole ape in love with the girl or vice-versa thing. I wonder if it had anything to do with being raised in an environment as highly sexualized as mine was, and being aware of the mechanics, results and emotions involved with sex and love at a very young age.

I don't know if I'll see this new version, though if my kids want to, I may see it with them. But if I can, I'll avoid it. I have heard it had some great graphics though.
