They're a pair of tiny-round yellow "boxing gloves" that are tied around a rooster's legs normally during training fights so the birds can't hurt each other. Perhaps it became a regulation to use them during regular cockfights as well. I never attended a cockfight so I can't say for sure if they did use them, but I took my grandfathers's word. The "sport" may be completely outlawed now. That was in Alabama. In other countries where cockfighting is still a "sport" they tie very dangerous paraphernalia to the birds like razor blades and spurs. That's really sad.
