to those one man troubador types myself. There's just something special in a small intimate setting, sort of like having a conversation with someone over coffee.
A number of years ago there was a little place in town called "Bill and Pearl's Old Tyme Cafe". During the week they'd have an open mike program where anyone who had the urge could perform their music or poetry, without being paid, of course! But on the weekends they'd book small and varied musical groups, everything rom klezmer to salsa, classical to field shouts and hollers. Light refreshments were available but the draw was the music and the intimate setting. It's too bad it didn't make it, it was a lot of fun.
