interesting combinations of things. That means I'm not a purist, I guess, but I loved it when the Beatles brought Indian and orchestral elements into rock; when Paul Simon imported Andean and African bits into folk.
I really don't like straight jazz that much, but it really got my attention when James Taylor began throwing in the odd jazz chord on his songs; I like the fusion of jazz and rock (Weather Report, Steely Dan, etc.). Fusion rock + western swing + bluegrass = Col. Bruce Hampton and the Aquarium Rescue Unit -- CD's you won't find in just anybody's collection!
