The Grizzly Maze

I just finished reading the book called The Grizzly Maze. It was about Timothy Treadwell, the guy who was a self proclaimed grizzly bear expert and who got himself eaten by one of those bears.

The book it's self wasn't very good even though the guy writing it did a lot of research. He needed to decided which angle he was going to write from. There was an awful lot of 'just suppose' theories and not enough flat out facts. It was interesting in parts but then I am interested in bears. The book wobbled from one writing style to another in a strange jumbly way. It didn't flow smoothly.

Now to the topic, Timothy Treadwell. I had read his own book Among Grizzlies years ago. It was fascinating and I came away with the distinct impression that Tim was a nutcase. He was a Malibu new age wierdo and didnt know anything about grizzlies, but that didn't stop him from flying up to Alaska, pitching his tent in the middle of a grizzly trail and poking his face right into the bears business. He really loved the bears but his actions were careless about the bears safety, not to mention his own. During the winter Timothy went back to southern California and courted the rich and famous to support his nonprofit organisation for bear protection. The only problem was...there was no nonprofit status. People gave tons of money but it was all for Tims profit and crazy ideas. To his credit he did go to schools and give free lectures to children about bears.

Anyway, I don't recommend the book Grizzly Maze. I didn't really learn anything new. Most of the information was covered already in the news articles that came out after Timothys death.
