I spent all day trying to start a fire in the fireplace with wet wood. It didn't go so well. It made me think of those people on the Survivor show. They are always forgetting that they need to protect and preserve the fire once they have got it going. A big rain storm will come in the night and pour all over them...and the fire. I would think one of them would have some smarts and think of some way to make a shelter to keep the coals from getting soaked...not to mention the fire wood that they are going to be needing.

I can testify that wet wood does not burn well. Not at all.
