Yeah--that bothered me a bit.
However, when I went back to University at age 45 (I'm now 52), something interesting had happened in the study of chemistry.
First of all, the chemistry for science majors at the University of Houston is some of the best in the world. Since the school produces so many top-drawer petrochemists, etc. the Chinese, and, by the way, the French, send over students in droves.
I took Organic Chem. there, and, except for Symbolic Logic, where EVERY problem is a "proof" within an entriely new MATH SYSTEM (!), it was the hardest course I've ever taken! I didn't "ace" it, but I passed well. One of the Profs NEVER gave an "A" (which I think is illegal, so I avoided him).
At any rate, when I took Chem. in High School, and in college in the late 60s and early 70s, the theory was pretty much particulate theory, not wave function theory. Particulate theory, ABSOLUTELY UNEMPIRICAL, was originated by the Greek Sophist philosophers, who tried to imagine what would happen if any matter was broken down into smaller and smaller PIECES.
In other words, someone had not paid enough attention to the Einstein/Bose wave functions, where the "location" of subatomic "particles" (ALL of them) were OBSERVED, while absorbing quanta of energy BEFORE reacting, and ONLY reacted at measurable and re-measurable SPECIFIC levels of light, gamma ray and other energies, HAD TO BE described as ONLY a PROBABILITY.
No more "BBs and marbles". That theory was replaced by a better model, where electrons "revolved" in their orbit millions of times every billionth of a second; more or less! So, the very "energy fields" which were an intricate and inseparable part of the Einstein/Bose's consruct(and many others' since) can and DO REMAIN, beyond dilution, as part of the OBSERVABLE hypothetical construct.
For instance, boson pairs, if I remember correctly, could literally be separated experimentally, and then were separated PHYSICALLy across a university campus (Berkely, I think), and the motion effected on one of the separated bosons was EXACTLY MIRRORED by the other now unpaired boson. Weird!
So,
1. the dilution argument may not apply here, and
2. it worked for me, and I was EXTREMELY skeptical, but in enough pain, over more than a year, to be desperate (ergo no placebo effect),
3. The "succusion" technique, where the bottle containing the dilution is struck in a certain way before each dose, may very well activate an energy field UNIQUE to the original substance which DOES remain, in the extremely purified water, and is certainly empirical enough, since it HAS worked for over 200 years, now,
4. homeopathy's founder, Hahnneman (SP?) had PEOPLE (versus allopathy's animal experimentation and nearly unending list of warnings, contra-indications, side effects and so on--of which homeopathy has NONE! No side effects!) try compounds and herbs, which MIMICKED CERTAIN DISEASE SYMPTOMS almost exactly, in some cases, and it is certainly feasible that, the immune system, unknown till recently, is first stimulated, and that the other 10 body systems are thereby stimulated, which helps the body basically heal itself.
And, after all, Memory B-cells, and all the other components of the human blood cause quite powerful reactions and bodily responses to dilutions as small, or smaller, than those of homeopathic solutions. Some reactions are more "electrochemical" or "bioelectric" than others. Saltatation of electrical impulses along the myelin of neurons are not measured chemically at all; but electrically.
And, in each of out cell walls, not only the "electricity" of electronshells operate to suppply biological life's energy, but so does the "proticity" of protonic positive charges (from biologically split Hydrogen atoms) across the cell's wall, which is itself like a computer chip! Amazing!
The "dividing line" of empirical evidence, vis-a-vis teh dilution argument, here, is far too fine to make the argument against homeopathy, IMHO, and my degree is in advanced human physiology, which I began to study post-TF because of what David (NOT Berg) said, by the Holy Spirit, of how "fearfully and wonderfully made" the human body is!
No invention of man exists (rather a "discovery" than "invention") which does not mimic something already found in the human body, from simple mechanical structures to the most advanced computers, nano-tech devices, etc!
Wow! Praise God!
Hanneman's "Law of Opposites" was observed to work countless times before being accepted as a "Proving" (German word--I don't know how exactly it translates!).
The law of opposites is a whole lot more than "the hair of the dog that bit you", after a drinking binge, which is just re-initiating the alcoholism cycle. A simple onion can be diluted to the point where it "cures" the pain and tears brought on by peeling onions; and the argument of too much dilution is easily defeated there.
And so forth. There is A LOT of empirical proof.
And, certain ethnic "meds" have stuck around because, although they might be wrappped in some superstition, etc., they simply work.
Perhaps biochemistry and physics will "catch up" with an explanation of WHY they work consistently, and the true medicine discovered there can be called "integrative medicine".
That has already begun, and I believe that it is the duty of thinking Christians to stand up for this point of view, which is now enveloping worldwide scientific opinion.
That, of course, is another entire discussion, regarding the Antichrist empire, etc., and worldwide strong delusion about how God's creation, when described HONESTLY, leaves ALL OF US, believer or no, wwithout excuse, IMHO. The AC will have an apparently amazing "command" of pseudo-science; I believe.
Of COURSE the allopathic medicine industry objects, and its arguments are part of every major university system in the world--FOLLOW THE MONEY!
My problem with "alopathic" medication (& I'm not talking about necessaary surgeries, etc., in this fallen world), for the most part is that its "proof" is really only about 100 years if you're generous (half that of homeopathy), and really about 50 years if you're more accurate, about 1/4th of the time that homeopathy has ALREADY been working. Last month was Hanneman's 250th Birthday!
Most significantly, to me at least, is that the belief paradigm under which MOST allopathic medications have been created is that of hardcore atheism. That belief system has a veneer of pseudoscience, which assumes
1. a FINITE universe created by a "Big Bang" caused
2. an UNinterruptable stream of cause and effect (hence no "possibility" of an actually THEISTIC God Who can interrupt His creation at will, which argues, circularly, that
3. EVERYTHING we now deal with in science is the result of, and the creation of, randomness, plus time plus chance. Chance is another "probablility idea" within the math system of probability itself. All the time imaginable CANNOT give causative power to it.
Therefore, most of the meds of the allopathic type are created by people who, until quite recently, were "Big Bang/Chance as causally powerful" ATHEISTS, who have been trying to treat symptoms of bodies they believe to be products of mere chance. It's no wonder that fully HALF of the advances of modern medicine are due to the abandonment of BAD PRACTICES BASED ON BAD HYPOTHETICAL MODELS!
And, we preach and teach the Gospel of Salvation, primarily, which includes the good news of healing, but which is balanced out by the reality that God's truth is also a gospel of suffering. I've seen many undeniable healings over the years; THROUGH PRAYER ALONE. But, of course, every good and every perfect gift..." is from God. Homeopathy worked for me in this case, and I see it as a gift from God; as nearly 100 percent of the pain is gone!
I've also seen that not everyone is healed after prayer, and many other attempts to relieve pain and suffering, but that believers WILL BE, at the "Ultimate Healing", when Christ returns; Who is our hope in this fallen world.
By the way, yesterday, Independence Day, marks the 31-year anniversary of my exit from the TFI cult--the more time and distance the better!
But all of you are really in my heart.
You're in a real special spot there, yourself; EBW.
Today is my first day out of training on my new job! I'll be working 2-11pm, today, and 11a-7pm the rest of the week.
Many thanks to all of you for your prayers!
Sincerely,
OT2 (OldtimerToo)
