Hey there Mr. Barny barny! First of all I wanted to say hi to you as I havent communicated with your in a while.
My advice to you is you might try first of all cutting back on caffein. Especially at night! I over the past year or so have really gotten to enjoy my dr. pepper(I dont drink coffee, but dr. pepper has quite a bit of cafein in it) and when I drink it at night it does have an effect on my sleep pattern. So I drink my fill from the morning into the afternoon but towards the night time I switch to herbal tea or just plain water.
I have noticed as I have gotten older that my sleep pattern has changed too from how it used to be. And if I eat a big meal right before bed time that doesnt help to go to bed with food setting on my stomach and can cause me to wake up a few hours later.
When Im real desperate "once in a while" I might have a few beers, but not on a full stomach,to help me relax into a condusive state for sleep.
But normally I do something pretty regular that has helped me the past 4 years. As we get older our body produces less hormones that are normally present in our bodies when we were younger. One of them I have found that I am deficient in is melatonin.
A friend of mine suggested it to me a few years ago and I was hesitant to try it. I really didnt know at the time exactly what it was and Im very cautious to put a bunch of stuff in my body. But finally because I was losing so much sleep I decided to try it. I started with 1 1/2 miligrams.
Eventually I moved up to 3 miligrams. And now I have been taking 5 miligrams the past year which seems to work best for me. Its not addicting and is natural and I dont feel groggy the next morning like with some other kind of chemical or non prescription sleep aid.
A few times Ive forgotten to take my melatonin and did not sleep well as a result so every night the last thing I do is pop a melatonin tablet under my tounge as Im praying or counting sheep waiting to konk out.
The best kind of melatonin Ive found is the kind that dissolves under the tounge which goes quicker into the blood stream. Everybody is different and it may not work for you but.....its definitely worth a try. Love, Widdle guy
