I have been going to the doctor more recently than I have in the past, mainly because for a while I had no medical insurance.
Lately after doing some blood work and getting back the results the doctor is wanting to put me on two different things.
I am diabetic and taking insulin. The doctor is wanting me to take an oral dibetic medicine in addition to insulin. The medicine is called gulcaphage.
He says it helps protect my kidneys in addition to helping better regulate my blood sugar. The other thing he wants to put me on is blood pressure medicine. Starting me off with a small dose. The doctor has already told me once I start taking blood pressure medicine I will have to continue to take it the rest of my life.
Since I have no blood pressure machine to monitor my blood pressure I went the other day to the fire station here and they checked it for me. The man who checked it asked why I needed to have it monitored. I said my doctor wants to put me on blood pressure medicine. He said what for? your blood pressure is 130/78
The doctor says that blood pressure medicine also will help protect my kidneys. My blood pressure is not extreemly high but its up beyond the usual normal range and has been so for about the past year or so.
The conclusion we have come to is I dont want to put any other chemicals into my body which my body will then become dependent on if I dont really need to.
I told the doctor I am going to try to find something natural at the health food store which will basically do the same thing but with no side affects to my body.
He is going to give me about 2 months of whatever natural therapy that I find to help my condition. If nothing changes then I have agreed to what he suggests. Any suggestions???
