In Response To: what is a South Beach diet? (lydia)

The South Beach diet is basically for the two first weeks, eliminate all carbs, all fruits and eat vegetables and proteins. It gives you a rapid lost for those two weeks, but then on the third week, you can reintroduce the carbs(but the good ones), meaning the whole wheat bread, the brown rice, everything brown in other words and then you do that for a little while, that is the phase 2 and the phase 3 is for the rest of your life, eating everything brown and avoid sweets,ect...
It can work for many people again, but I just did not stick with it. And I went wild again, eating all the wrong carbs since...
I lost eight pounds and gained back four since.
So,my new resolution is to eat the same way I have always eaten, which is sensible, but to increase my physical activities and drink better liquids such as water and cut on the caffeine.
With the nice season coming, it should be not too bad. My oldest son wants to help me with an exercise program(The Mad Cyclist link on my site) and I will get my bicycle out of the garage and walk a bit more and I should shed those pounds slowly and gain muscle.
