Oh, no, I don't think you were leaning that way. It's just that when a subject such as this comes up it tends to lead to "piling on" when the momentum gets going.
But I totally agree about the self hypnosis that speaking in tongues can lead to. I first was taugh how to enter into a hypnotic trance state while in the group so when my first experience in a pentecostal church exposed me to the same thing I was very dismayed. Even prayer circles WITHOUT tongues can be very hypnotic so I avoid these kinds of things as well, and I'm currently NOT in a "charismatic" church (Nazarene).
A lot of the time emotion was used to ginn up what was called "the presence of God" which was little more than hypnotism and auto suggestion. I am very skeptical of those practices even now.
