That was part of my point when I said that J & C highlight the sins of Godly men in order to justify Berg's sins. Berg constantly employed that same tactic and used it to his shame and demise. It's an heretical use of scripture. Furthermore, Berg's teachings are all tainted with heresies. Okay, there may be a few innocuous letters, but not many. His overriding propensity to indulge in his disobedience toward God is reflected in most of his letters.
God never justifies sin on any level and when his people sinned they were punished. The NT demonstrates God's mercy on the sinner but condemns the ongoing disobedience to God's commandments.
