I left "The Family" in 1996 of my own accord, to experience life like the average American. I was fairly content while in the group and was never sexually abused in any way nor were any of my brothers and sisters (there is nine of us).
While I am saddened by the death of these two individuals, one cannot label an entire group of people and grossly exaggerate their intent and purpose in life by the mistakes that only certain individuals made decades ago and who were excommunicated from that group when they were found out.
