The word Snake for ex originally refers to an enemy.
A better rendition would be "they will handle their ennemies " .
This mistranslation cost the lives of many folks...
Also we are supposed to not tempt the Lord our God so fooling around with snakes is the dumest thing to do as well as to drink poisons
