Maria described Styrian as a "beautiful spirit being" that travels in whirlwinds.
The most famous "styrian" is a female vampire named Camilla (or Carmella).
and sometimes vampires are said to travel in whirlwinds.

This may be coincidence, but I doubt it.

And we mustn't forget the Family's ties to J. Gordon Melton who is totally demented into vampirism.
I think Maria may have joined Melton's club and that she knew the vampire link when she invented "Styrian".
