Thanks David, I see things differently, but it is good to read what you wrote as it gives me lots to chew on.
This topic has got nothing to do with 'belonging to a religion' or not. However it has everything to do with whether we are a saved child of God, everything to do with whether we have faith in Jesus Christ as the Saviour of our souls. NO man comes unto the Father - for anything- except by Me. It is impossible to please God unless we have faith - you quoted Heb 11.6 - but what faith? Jesus did not come to tell us to have faith that we'd get whatever we wanted, He came to reconcile us to God the Father, so that we can believe that He is the Son of God and that His death was the atonement for our sins. THAT is the only faith that pleases God, not just faith that we'll get something we want. Hebrews 11 is all on faith, of course, but it is talking about saving faith as the last few verses of HEb 10 say. So, God does not look on the outward appearance, He looks on the heart, and the only thing He looks for is whether we have faith in Jesus Christ His Son. Now if He doesn't see that there (which may or may not result in that person belonging to 'another religion') then no amount of believing in prayer will get God the Father to answer that prayer.
If it is all a matter of just believing that I will get my prayers answered and it's just a matter of believing in the impossible then there is no closer link to Christianity here than there is to any kind of new age power of the mind trip or dependance on whatever God you want.
It is all a matter of what kind of faith. It is not true that great faith automatically makes God answer more prayers than those with less faith because we cannot make God do anything, or He would not be God.
The heart of new age doctrine - and indeed the devil's own doctrine - is to be like God, to command God, to run things according to our will.
The Bible has one great message that runs through every verse and every topic - our eternal salvation. We cannot separate anything from salvation, because that's why Jesus came. We cannot talk about prayer separately from salvation, and as long as we have faith that JEsus Christ paid for our sins on the cross, we'll have evrything we need, we'll see miracles of supply, we'll get our prayers answered, but it will NOT be because we 'faithed' them down but because we trust the almighty God Who promised to take care of us.
