The difference is that Paul really did repent. He spent the rest of his life serving those he had once persecuted. Berg, on the other hand, spent his whole life coming up with "prophecies" that would excuse the wrong he REFUSED to repent of. He died (yes, DIED) still insisting that what he'd said in the letters was a revelation of God's will for the endtime.

I have personally spoken to those who were caring for Berg at the time of his death, and who were involved in arranging his burial (in a grave marked with a fake name). It is futile to expect any future fulfillment of the things he wrote. Whether or not it's still possible for him to repent, I leave in God's hands. But it is certainly possible for us to repent for having placed Berg's words on a par with God's own words. Thank God for His mercy!
