Jim LaMattery did not get either the television coverage or the FBI investigation going.

The coverage came as a result of the media interest after Ricky's death. Many different people were involved in communicating with the media.

As for the FBI investigation, LaMattery had nothing to do with it at all. It was some SGAs who got that ball rolling and LaMattery only learned about it after it was already in progress.
He then tried to take the credit for it.

His aim was to present himself as the leader of the exer community and get support. Even his own daughter said so.
