St John's worked for me in that it allowed me to sleep the night for a change. I only took a couple cause, fortunately, I got over coming out of the Cog a few days later. Had I taken it for the whole ten years that I was depressed, I may have had some side effects. Like the antacids I was popping. I finally got to the point where I knew they weren't helping, my stools were turning white, so I quit taking them and endured my pain.
Depressed with two hour sleep disturbance every night for ten whole years, trying to fend off the wolf at the door - alone, wife stuck in horrendous grief from the abuses out of her past, kids running wild.....Honestly, suicide DID enter my thoughts a few times. Of course, I rejected those ideas and muddled my way through until, at the end of those ten years, I found resolution in coming to the boards here. What a tremendous support they have been.
You're up on alot on herbs and things, right? What's the specs on St John's Wort? I know one has to be careful cause I asked the doc if it would help my over 90 mother and he was pretty firm about his "No."
