There has been debate here concerning the 70 weeks prophecy of Daniel 9:24-27. Some think that the 70 weeks were fulfilled in 37 A.D.(453 B.C.-37 A.D.), for the total of 490 years.(70x7) Others, including myself, think that the final(70th) week(7 years) has not yet happened. I believe II Thes. 2 gives further evidence concerning this subject. Paul starts by talking about the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and our gathering together unto him. The second coming of Christ in the clouds, immediately after the tribulation , when the angels gather the elect.(Mt.24:29-31) Paul also states in II Cor. 15:51,52 , that this event takes place at the last(7th trump) You cannot seperate the 2nd coming and the resurrection.(rapture) In Thes., he goes on to say that that day shall not come until the son of perdition is revealed, who will sit in the temple of God, showing himself to be God. So did Antiochus Epiphanes fulfill this in 37 A.D., thus ending the 70 weeks, or is this a future event? vs.8 answers the question. And then shall that Wicked(son of perdition) be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth(Rev.19:19-21), and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming. The same person who sits in the temple will be destroyed by Christ at Armageddon(the 6 th vial of wrath), which is about 45 days after the his second coming. So here's the order according to the scriptures. 1.anti-christ rule for 42 mos.(Rev.13:5) 2. 2nd coming of Christ and the resurrection of all believers 3. after 45 days(marriage supper in heaven, wrath of God on earth) Jesus returns to earth with the heavenly armies to destroy anti-christ and his armies at the battle of Armageddon.
(Zech.14:4,5) 4. 1,000 year reign of Christ on earth(millenium) 5. new heaven and new earth( the holy city New Jerusalem) descends from God where we will be with him for eternity. TYJ!
