Awhile ago I got the idea to put our bored and sloppy teen boy into a Tae Kwon Do class. It's almost like the military except he can leave if he wants to.
I went around to several schools and have been checking them out. You might want to try the same. It gives them something to do, something to brag about, gives them a feeling of self-esteem (low self-esteem causes loads of problems), gets them out of your hair and may just help them have more self-discipline as the martial arts teach this.
In case you like this idea, my suggestion is, don't ask him if he wants to do it. Say, "I have a surprise." and just take his butt there and see what happens. You know him better than I do, so maybe this is a bad idea. But I pray for you.
Which reminds me, every time I've asked for prayer for our teen (on Good News) miracles have happened with him. He goes from his Mr. Hyde stage back to Dr. Jekyl. Give it a try, hon, and don't be embarrassed to ask for prayer several times a month. I've done it and it worked.
