This is such a good piece of advice. I have one special friend that I like to hang out with. She and I have an agreement to not discuss the horrible stuff. Our time together is based on the fun stuff that we both enjoy, like gourd art and watching American Idol or Big Brother. Spending time with my friend is my treat to myself.
Usually though the only time that is really my own is after I put the little red to bed and everyone is sleep. That's my time. I sit at the computer for a half hour to an hour, drink a beer or glass of wine, and then take my self to bed. I read until my eyelids droop and the book falls. This is my nightly routine and I can let the angst of the day fall away.
