In the preliminary stages of this board I was asked a Good question from LOLO. She states:
"Will it be "exclusively" Christian or will it be more like "neutral"?
I know that we mostly all have a Christian background, especially Woodie who is now mastering in Religious studies and I have nothing against it. I just wondered, if someone that is not Christian will feel free to see and discuss the issues from another point of view.
Thanks."
Well I've thought about your question Lolo.
There are several factors here. I have a living relationship with my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, therefore I am a Christian, and I know that will color my responses. I can't change that nor would I. This was true long before I met the COG and has increased, changed and developed in many stages.
Now, another aspect. The COG is called a “Christian" organization. Most of us joined because we were led to Christ by a COG member or we wanted to follow Christ and were convinced that this was the best or only way to do it. Often religion, the Bible, Doctrines, and so called prophetic words were used as tools of manipulation, gender discrimination and abuse, among other twists and turns Berg came up with.
Now then, My focus in my theological studies has been history and women’s studies, which crosses many religious, ethnic, cultural and economic barriers, among others. Even within Christian theology there is heightened division and debate on many issues concerning women, and my intent here on this board is an open forum for women of all beliefs. What we believe is often a journey.
What I would like is for women to be able to discuss and bring out their personal issues, stories, questions and allow them to enter-act with other women who have had similar experiences.
So that’s the idea here, to hear other points of view. Sometimes hearing that it was just not YOU that it happened too, or that felt that way, can bring healing. We don’t always have to agree to respect one another or learn from one another. There are many wonderful and dynamic ladies who have brought real solutions to huge problems to the world wide women’s forums who are not Christian. I hope all will feel welcome here and I will do all I personally can to keep that door wide open. I will surly encourage others to be so kind as well.
