I would hope that even if I had not been in a cult that I would have recognized when rule keeping had gotten out of control. As much as I like BSF, I think that it's important to keep it in its proper place.

I once asked Bob about the difficulties of accepting church authority after having been in a cult. He had a helpful response. Since BSF is not a church, I don't believe that they have any spiritual authority over me; however, as long as I attend the study, I am agreeing to follow their guidelines. I'm at peace with that.
