In the article, I was touched by the statement that it was noted of her that, "She told the congregation of her disobedience to the voice of the Holy Spirit telling her to be courageous and speak in public about Jesus." Been there!

There is an entire issue devoted to the Booths in Christian History Issue 26 (Check the link below).

They were a remarkable couple in England's very dark and troubled times. The article on Catherine notes she was called "the Army's Mother". At home they sat side by side, where William refused to sit as "Head of the table".
She raised 8 children, 7 of which became SA Army leaders. From the masses of working class women she gathered, educated and Biblically trained an army of women leaders who still out number the men to this day.

She was known as the Army's "Theologian", authoring several books, establishing the Army's position on sacraments and encouraged, taught and headed its Evangelism teams. 27,000 viewed her body at Clapton Hall at her death in 1890.

She is quoted in response to a man's statement arguing from Corinthian, "that it is a shame for women to speak in the church"; Oh yes, so he did; but in the first place this is not a Church, and in the second place, I am not a Corinthian; besides she continued noting the mans wife, Paul said in the same epistle that it was good to be unmarried and remain so.
